In perfect match for the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, we woke up to a rainy day in St. Lucia. This however did not deter us from setting out to exploring the park after a quick stop at the local SPAR (a supermarket available nearly everywhere in South Africa).
The peaceful zebras were once again the first animals we came across. Not far from the main road, they were roaming the wide grasslands of the national park. In general not many animal came out on this rainy day. We mainly drove through the park with some short hikes to lookouts.
We stopped at the never ending spectacular Cape Vidal beach for a lunch break and a quick swim in the Indian Ocean under the rain.
Finally, when we were already on the way back out of the park and had nearly give up hope to see any other big animal, we stumbled upon a group of rhinos right next to the street. This group of six amazingly massive rhinos were feeding and did not seem to mind us watching them for a long time from our car.
Unfortunately, again no luck with the Hippos just like the day before 😦
